Russia, St.Petersburg, the State Hermitage, clock "Elehant" and "Peacock"

A very famous clock '' peacock" was made from copper and gold.
A gilt was many- coloured , the tail of the bird was green, the body was varnished.
A clock " Elephant" went to Hermitage from Tavrichesky palace in the end of the XVIII century. Some explorers was thinking, that the work principle of the clock "Peacock" and "Elephant" was the same, but it was mistake-
An "Elephant" was staying on the second floor of the Hermitage, in the wardrobe under the bell-glass. In 1817 an "Elephant" was sent to Persia, like a gift to Fet Aly Shah.


The clock with a time zone by P. Havsky.
It was a time, when an idea of unification of time was arise.
This clock was make by Peter Havsky. He was historian, jurist
and expert of Russian chronology in the middle of the XIX century. 25 years later 26 states in Washington decided to introduce a time zone with Greenwich meridian.
