XVI century the island
becomes centre Spasskogo of a country churchyard in which submission

about 130 villages. Then on island were already constructed from
logs of a strong pine without nails, by means of an axe and a chisel
two wooden churches: Winter 9-heads, Pokrovskaja church and 22-heads
Preobrazhenskiy. Under the legend its plan was drawn by Peter I,
the ensemble in 1874 a construction bell's was completed. Today
it is unique ensemble in the world of wooden architecture, built
by a principle " many- heads near to many- heads ".
Almost 250 years fires, antireligious currents, military years bypassed

folklore holidays and days of national crafts. Since 1990 monuments
of a country churchyard and its architectural environment are included
into the list of
Monuments of the world cultural and natural heritage of UNESCO.
